TEMIANG'S STORY

Explore and adventure across Temiang

TEMIANG, SEREMBAN

Temiang, a gemstone hidden among towns within Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, personifies the fighting spirit of its history of ancestors. Their resilient pioneering spirit is diffused across the whole of Temiang and can be felt intensely within many of the historic buildings to this day.  Journeying past the eponymous Seng Meng Lee Road, named after the first Capitan China in the civil administration of colonial Malaysia, and laying your eyes upon the century-old temple, school, and hall, Temiang bestows upon us a reminder to carry on the legacy of our predecessors and to continue forging an optimistic future for the well-being of the community. Following the advancement of the road facilities in Temiang, the completion of the Temiang-Pantai Highway unlocks further economic development in the area.

The wonders of Temiang will appeal to those with a fondness for local history, and anyone looking for a relaxing, yet eventful day trip close to Kuala Lumpur.  Being just under an hour's drive away from the bustle of Kuala Lumpur, Temiang envelops you in a contrasting peace and nostalgia evoked by a pleasant breakfast at one of its many hawker food centres. Here, enjoy Malaysian favourites, enhanced by local flavours, such as Laksa, Char Kuay Teow, and the classic combination of Hainanese bread and coffee.

Tourists fascinated by the culture in Temiang, or those looking to explore on their feet the finer details of a historical monument may discover an enriching experience from a visit to Then Sze Khoon Temple (alternatively known as Centipede Hill).

A 5-minute drive from Then Sze Khoon Temple and you will come across the quaint - yet well-preserved - Moi Kong Ng Shook Chong Fui. Venture inside and view the Chinese inscriptions on their plaques, which depict a tale of struggles by the ancestors of Temiang hailing from the South. If you need a break, the neighbouring streets of Temiang will no doubt relieve another bout of hunger should you yearn for authentic Bak Kut Teh or a seafood dinner.

Another Temiang jewel, located just a few blocks away, is the Dong Teng Keng or Dong Tian Temple. A picturesque temple overflowing with beautifully preserved Chinese history and tradition is decorated with auspicious dragons interspersed on its roof. Inside, let the exquisite carvings catch your attention and admire the quaint backdrop, untouched by time.

One local delicacy visitors should never miss the opportunity to sample is the Siew Pao and Egg Tarts now commonly found around Seremban. However, try the ones in Temiang and you'll come back for more - ask any local and they'll gladly direct you to their place of origin.

The Temiang-Pantai Highway, which has recently and rightfully risen in popularity, is prevalently recalled as a route that grants its morning travelers a freshening, rejuvenating scenery reminiscent of New Zealand, and often describe as no less enchanting during sunset, during which the golden glow of the sinking sun bestows a sense of calmness upon drivers on the road.
